MISSOURI HOUSE OF

REPRESENTATIVES

DISTRICT 65

REPRESENTATIVE BIOGRAPHY

MEET TOM HANNEGAN

My name is Tom Hannegan and I am representing the 65th district in the Missouri House of Representatives.

I was born and raised in St. Charles. I grew up in its neighborhoods and attended its schools.  From graduating from Academy of the Sacred Heart, Duchesne High School, and Lindenwood University to serving on numerous boards and commissions within St. Charles, I have made lifelong friends here and developed strong relationships with civic and political leaders.

I am one of four children of John and Mary Lou Hannegan, who before their passing were long-time residents of and advocates for St. Charles and its people.  The Hannegan family has, for two generations, invested its time and resources into what is best for the citizens of this community.  As parents, citizens, entrepreneurs, and mentors, the Hannegans have a history of enriching the city of St. Charles.

I know the history that has led us to where we are today and believe I have the foresight to take us into tomorrow.  I have been connected to the decision makers all of my life and have lived through the changes and growth that have brought us to this point as a city and as a community.

I am a business-driven decision maker with a Master of Science degree in human resource management attained in 1998 from Lindenwood University. As a human resource specialist with Unity Healthcare and Station Casino St. Charles (now Ameristar),  I obtained human resource experience in both the health care and casino entertainment industries through working with all levels of employees from entry-level to executive management.  I have also worked in the areas of hiring, orientation, placement, benefits, grievance and exit procedures. In addition, I  have been a  Licensed Real Estate Broker with the State of Missouri. successfully selling both residential and commercial real estate for many years..

For the last nine years, I have made a business out of making St. Charles shine with StreetScape Magazine, the publication I founded.  StreetScape is known for showcasing the extraordinary people, places, and businesses that make up St. Charles.  I intend to take that same enthusiasm and initiative to Jefferson City on behalf of my neighbors — to showcase the city’s people and businesses and ensure that their needs are met and their voices heard.

As the owner of two small businesses – StreetScape and Hannegan Real Estate & Construction, LLC – I understand what it’s like to write out a paycheck, as well as to earn one.  I hold a Master of Science in human resource management which, along with real life experience, equips me to understand and deal with issues in the workplace — a skill set that can be beneficial when working in an environment of personal, cultural, and political diversity.

But perhaps, most importantly, I bring to the table the ability to listen to people, as well as hold fast to my core beliefs.  People need to be heard.  As a publisher, I understand that everyone has a story to tell; and we are all part of a bigger team, which is our community.  It is important to listen to everyone’s point of view before coming to a conclusion.

Your vote for me as state representative is a vote for a true representative of St. Charles in every sense of the word.
